Track User Engagement in Your Locator Widget Using Google Analytics

WP Maps supports Google Analytics integration which allows you to monitor and analyze the activity in the locator widget on your website. As a result, you will be able to gather valuable information that is related to your customer’s browsing activity. In addition, you will be able to gain insights into information such as:

  1. Which of your stores are most visited
  2. What are your most viewed products
  3. How many visitors visited your website
  4. And much more

How to Setup Google Analytics on WP Map #

Go to the “Super Administrator” page on the WP Maps platform. Under the “Configuration” section, you will see the “Analytics” sub-tab. Here you will need to add two IDs to set Google Analytics on WP Maps.

The two IDs needed for Google Analytics to function properly on WP Maps are Google Analytics Tracking ID and Google Analytics Property ID. We will need to get both of these IDs from Google Analytics and copy them into the WP Maps platform.

Please follow the below steps to get the values for Google Analytics Tracking ID and Google Analytics Property ID:

Step 1: Go to the Google Analytics website (https://analytics.google.com)

Step 2: Log in or create an account for Google Analytics

Step 3 At the main dashboard, Click the “settings” button on the bottom left corner of the screen.

Step 4: Click on “+ Create Account”, A new GA4 property is required to link with WP Maps.

Step 5: Provide your account name, property name, and other required information in the “Property Setup” sections, and then press “Next”

Step 6: Skip the “About your business” section or select your industry category, business size, etc.

Step 7: Click on the “Create” button, and read the terms and conditions before agreeing to them.

Step 8: You will arrive at the “Data Streams” page after creating a new property. Next, choose “Web” as your platform.

Step 9: On the “Set up data stream” page, provide your website URL and stream name. Then press “create a stream”.

Step 10: On the “Web stream details” page, copy the “measurement ID” and paste it into the “Google Analytics Tracking ID” in the super admin tab on WP Maps and click save settings.

Step 11: Now we just need the property ID. To get the property ID, click on the “Property settings” tab on the Google Analytics property section.

Step 12: Copy the property ID located on the top-right corner of the screen and paste it into the “Google Analytics Property ID” in the super admin tab on WP Maps.

Step 13: Once both IDs have been added, press “Save Settings” on WP Maps

Once you save the settings, the tracking will be set up for your locator widget.

You can view the analytics data by going to the “Analytics Reports” page (through the “Analytics” tab) on WP Maps and signing in with the same Google Analytics account. Then you will see all data of your customer’s behavior when they use your locator widget.
