Store Time Controls – Display Open Stores and Choose Time Display Format

WP Maps includes smart time-based controls that enhance the user experience by letting visitors see which stores are currently open and in what time format.

The Time Switch and Time Format settings allow for a more tailored and intuitive interaction with your store locator, particularly for businesses that rely heavily on operating hours.

Time Options

What These Options Do #

1. Time Switch (Open Stores Filter) #

This option provides a toggle control in the store locator interface that lets users view only those stores that are currently open based on the present time.

Available Options:

  • Show Open Stores Control
Displays a toggle button labeled something like “Show Open Stores” or “Open Now” directly on the locator. When enabled, only stores currently open (as per their working hours) will be displayed. This is extremely useful for users seeking immediate service or availability.
  • Hide Open Stores Control
Removes the toggle from the interface. All stores will be shown regardless of whether they are open or closed at the current time.

The Time Switch feature makes it easier for users to filter store listings based on availability, especially useful for restaurants, clinics, service centers, or any time-sensitive business.

2. Time Format #

This option allows you to display store hours in either 12-hour or 24-hour format based on your audience’s regional preference or familiarity.

Available Formats:

  • 12-Hour Format (AM/PM)
Standard format in the United States, Canada, and other countries. Example: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • 24-Hour Format
Commonly used in Europe, Asia, and military settings. Example: 08:00 – 17:00

This small but important setting ensures consistency with your brand’s localization strategy and makes the time format more relatable to your audience.

Benefits of These Settings #

  • User Convenience – Users can instantly find stores that are open without manually checking each schedule.
  • Localization Ready – Time format can be aligned with regional or cultural expectations.
  • Reduced Bounce Rates – Users don’t get frustrated seeing only closed stores.
  • Great for Service-Based Businesses – Ideal for businesses with varying or limited working hours.
